Here is a Thrift Box that is truly special! I found a stash of 1970s Wedgwood plates depicting Hans Christian Andersen stories. Their colours are vibrant and beautiful and incredibly, they are mostly in their original boxes so in pristine condition…..expert thrift tip, look on the top shelf! Perfect for your knitterly things or jewels by your bedside.
Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish author born in 1805 best known for his literary fairy tales. He was friends with Charles Dickens and many of his stories were inspired by medieval tales presenting lessons in virtue and resilience. Wedgwood of course is an English fine china and porcelain company founded in 1759.
I have dyed two variegated skeins of our Shindig Donegal Tweed for these boxes, using the colours from the plates. You will receive a plate at random, stories include The Little Mermaid, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Ugly Duckling, The Tinder Box and The Sandman.
Shindig Donegal Tweed is our 85% SW Merino and 15% Donegal Neps at 437 yds/400m per 100. You will receive 200g.
