Every year we celebrate the lead up to Christmas with the mad dash in the heat and remember our funny family story of The Dropped Pavlova. Aunty Jude was arriving through the front gate trying to contain welcoming toddlers, dogs and cats. She was hefting the crown jewel of the Christmas lunch, the giant Pavlova to feed 40 people. As a proud Fijian Kiwi come Aussie, the Pavlova was of central importance, laden this year with mango, raspberries and cream. In slow motion, despite her ample bosom barricading the avalanching layers, the whole damn thing cascaded onto the blistering pavement…..to a shocked and disbelieving silence. “It’s OK, it’s OK!” yelled Greg “Grab a spoon everyone!”. All of us agreed that it tasted just as good off the pavement….and before the main course!

This year, The Dropped Pavlova is a celebration of strawberry, cream, raspberry, mango and pink grapefruit coulis with a side of plum and blueberry! Perfect for your (hopefully less calamitous) Christmas Eve Cast On!
